Bio
A bit of a family band, The Reneaus, out of Kentucky + Nashville, TN consists of songwriter Ashley Winn (vocals, guitar) and husband Jon Winn (keys), brothers, and cousins to Ashley, Steven Page (lead guitar) and David Page (percussion), and father-daughter duo, Warren Guyer (bass) and Layne Green (strings, backing vocals).
Since their inception in 2010, The Reneaus’ sound, initially rooted in Americana and alt-country, has evolved, drawing on a wide range of musical influences that spans genres and generations, and lands somewhere in the Venn diagram of dream pop, psychedelic, and folk.
Ashley Winn has been writing songs as a creative outlet, and a way to work out emotions and ideas, since she was a child. When her (born just hours apart) cousin, Steven Page, being predominantly a guitarist, moved to Ashley’s hometown to attend college, they naturally began playing together. The duo then began a recording project, bringing in David, Warren, Layne, and Jon to fill in musically. This recording project resulted in the band’s formation, as well as The Reneaus’ first self-recorded album, Room for Roses.
Following Room for Roses, the group began playing together locally. In 2012-2013 they brought in Jeremiah Nave to help produce their second album, The Season. Touring to promote The Season, they shared the stage with noteable acts such as Billy Bragg, and Jason Isbell, playing events like Americanarama fest, and Red Bull Sound Select.
The Reneaus began recording their 3rd album in 2015. During this time, Jon and Ashley had their first child, who was born with complex needs. This delayed their third album’s production. High Tide, produced by Steven, was ultimately released in 2018, and was selected by Ben Swank of Third Man Records to be a part of the Nashville Public Library BoomBox.
Over the next few years, Ashley and Jon needed to step back from The Reneaus to focus on their family. During that time, Ashley was still writing and creating, and Steven was growing his production skills. Now the group has reformed to create their 4th studio album, The Mother, produced once again by Steven Page and set to be released in 2024.
* The Mother has been a years long project, and 5 songs were released as singles in 2022. Those songs are Breaking Bright, Palm of My Hand, How it Goes, Hydrangeas in January, and Midnight in Rewind. We received very positive feedback from the limited people who have heard them. We truly believe in good hands, this album has potential to reach the right audience and find very positive reception.
